Bulgaria’s capital is most expensive property in country

Residential property prices in Sofia saw the highest increase in the surrounding boroughs for the first six months of 2007. Prices in certain residential complex went up by 29 per cent in the first six months of 2007; the increase on an annual base was 51 per cent. The average residential purchase price in residences such as Iztok reached 1450 euro a sq m in the first six months of 2007, compared with slightly below 2000 euro a sq m in areas such as Doktorska Gradina.
Residential property offering continues its steady increase as the focus remains on residential districts and settlements of a closed type. Rental prices for the country vary between 3.5 to four euro a sq m for lower-quality apartments and 15 to 20 euro for new apartments.
