Revenue from Tourism Increases in last Quarter of 2007

Income and expenditure for tourism in Turkey increased in the fourth quarter of 2007 from the previous year, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK) based in Ankara announced yesterday on its website.

A 23.9 per cent rise from $3.12 billion to $3.86 billion was recorded from a survey which is conducted on foreign visitors and citizens residing outside of Turkey. $975.84 million was obtained from Turkish citizens residing outside of Turkey while $2.88 billion of tourism income came from foreign visitors.

Package tours supplied $484.43 million while Individual travels brought $3.38 billion. In the fourth quarter, the highest tourism income was collected in October with $1.85 billion. Tourism income was $1.13 billion in November and $874.93 million in December.
