A far cry from the grey skies of Bolton in the UK, the scorching sand dunes and golden beaches of Ras Al Khaimah will be the latest home for Bolton University. The University is launching a new campus, 3,000 miles away in the United Arab Emirates and students are already queuing up to join the campus, which opens in Ras Al Khaimah later this year.
Students will have the same timetable as their counterparts in the UK, with a number of lecturers and key staff from Britain spending time in the Middle East to help establish the campus. Students from both countries will get the chance to take part in exchange programmes
The scheme is the latest venture by a British university in the overseas education market, with British higher education seen as the benchmark in many parts of the world. Several other British universities have launched campuses around the world.
The Ras Al Khaimah facility will launch in September, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, business, computing, and design.
