Turkey to boost ties with Bangladesh

Turkey plans to introduce a direct flight between Dhaka and Istanbul from 2009 to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries and enhance economic cooperation. New Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka, Sakir Ozkan Toruntar, noted that Bangladesh is one of the four Asian countries where Turkey has development cooperation and investment. He also informed that the next joint economic council meeting would be held in Turkey in 2009 to further increase investment opportunities between the two countries. Turkey’s investors could make further investment in Bangladesh and benefit from the attractive investment incentive packages offered by the government for foreign investors. Trade volume between Dhaka and Ankara rose to US$500 million last month from about US$300 million.
