Its official! Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island will host Real Madrid’s brand new Theme Park concept, the ‘Real Madrid Resort Island’.
In a presentation given at the Bernabeu Stadium this afternoon, it was announced that the new ‘Disney-style’ project will cost over $1 billion and consist of a theme park, team museum, numerous sports facilities, a beachfront 10,000 seater football stadium as well as its own marina.
As many speculated, the location of this highly anticipated complex will be the luxurious Al Marjan Island which offers an idyllic setting and winning combination of sun, sea and sand.
Florentino Perez, the football club’s president described the new project as ‘Sportainment’, a place that would bring together entertainment, tourism and football to a destination that has over 2 billion potential customers in just a 4 hour radius.
Perez’s presentation translated,
“The total investment will be about one billion dollars that will bring life to an initiative on fifty acres of land on an artificial island in a complex with a leisure quality branded Real Madrid, a theme park, a team museum, numerous sports facilities, a marina, hotels, independent houses and the first football stadium bleachers with a crescent-shaped open sea will be the decisive step that will help increase the presence of Real Madrid in the Middle East and Asia”
The hype surrounding the new park has already begun with a planned completion date of January 2015. Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island has long been on track to attract significant levels of tourism; however this most recent announcement will have a phenomenal effect on the area, boosting tourism ten-fold. As a result property on the Al Marjan Island is expected to benefit from considerable price increases as the park draws closer to completion.
