In summary:
Not only is Ras Al Khaimah developing in the property and tourism sense, the emirate is also developing technologically with the creation of an iPad and iPhone app.
The app comes from the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA) and features an overview of attractions, hotels, events and excursions to inform tourists of Ras Al Khaimah of the current emirate activity as well as providing an image gallery and can also be used by residents who are unsure about what to do in their spare time.
Victor Louis, Chief Operating Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “The launch of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism iPhone and iPad App RAK Tourism App. takes tourism to a new level.
“Today, technology plays a key element in everything we do – in work as well as leisure.
“This App will act as a guide to all emirate’s attractions introducing this affordable luxury destination to people from around the world to discover the varied leisure and adventure attractions and the truly Arabian hospitality.”
The app allows users to click on a number of features, including about Ras Al Khaimah, Exploring the Emirate, Hotels & Resorts, Events & Offers, Wine & Dine, Media Centre and Frequently Asked Questions.
Tourists especially will be able to enjoy the ‘About Ras Al Khaimah’ section where they can learn about the history and geography of RAK whilst the ‘Explore the Emirate’ icon highlights the tourist attractions.
Unsurprisingly, the ‘Hotels & resorts’ icon and the ‘Wine & Dine’ icon offers hotels for tourists to stay and a number of eateries and drinkeries to visit whilst the ‘Events & Offers’ highlights sporting events and social guides.
Other functions of the app offer images and videos whilst the FAQ answers the questions that tourists want to know the answers to such as what to wear and the odd customs rule.
The app will be good for those who want to spend a holiday or move to RAK as the emirate is not as well-known as Dubai or Abu Dhabi. With the constant development going on in the emirate it is likely that expansion will continue well into the future.
The app was developed by the UAE’s Unique Technologies in conjunction with the Electronic Government Authority (EGA) of Ras Al Khaimah.
