New mosque in Ras Al Khaimah
A new Dh3 million mosque in the Al Maardh area of Ras Al Khaimah will accommodate 750 worshippers and cover more than 6,000 square feet. It will be built by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation in an area of historical significance, on the site where two other mosques previously stood.
Sheikh Omar bin Abdul Aziz, the chairman of the Islamic Affairs Department in Ras Al Khaimah, said the mosque would be the biggest in the Al Maardh and Mamoura areas. The mosque is a gift from Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, the wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai as part of her continuing efforts to provide new mosques and religious institutions in the UAE and around the world.
