RAK Holding to open convenience stores across the UAE
Local retailers in the UAE looking to promote and capitalise upon convenience have created an explosion of new openings. The region has been crying out for convenience stores, with their speed of and familiarity of service.
Last month the chairman of Ras Al Khaimah based giant, RAK Holding, His Highness Sheikh Tariq Al Qassimi proclaimed that its upcoming Near Buy chain will focus on establishing shops within 500m of almost every home within the UAE, with an estimated 2000 stores to stretch into every neighbourhood in the country.
The firm's drive to revive the small grocer market will involve opening up to 500 stores by next year, driven hugely by franchising. In some cases creating partnerships with existing grocery stores that may be in need of financial assistance.
