Bulgaria’s economy has growth of 7 percent in first quarter
Gross domestic product in Bulgaria grew by 7 percent in the first quarter of 2008 compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute.
The country’s GDP in the first quarter stood at 13.5 billion leva. The growth was achieved mainly through a 7.7 percent expansion of industry and an 8.3 percent increase in the services sector, over the same period of 2007.
Bulgaria’s economy grew last year by 6.2 percent, and the government has projected the same rate for 2008.
