USD 1.3bn earmarked in Morocco for Development until 2012
The Managing Director of the Social and Economic Promotion and Development Agency of the Southern Provinces, Ahmed Hajji has said that Morocco has earmarked USD 1.3bn until 2012 for the development of Morocco’s southern provinces.
In an interview with a radio station Hajji said that development projects in Morocco worth USD 650,000 were carried out in 2007. In addition the global budget will exceed USD 1.3bn which will not include sectorial actions such as the housing program which was launched in 2007.
Mr Hajji also commented that 2007 witnessed a "significant dynamism" in development projects in the southern provinces quantitatively and qualitatively. "We shifted, in 2007, from a partnership logic which lays project by project to a logic of contractual comprehensive program with concerned local collectives,” he pointed out.
