Dubai has diversified its economy in recent years to produce a strong tourism industry. This initiative has been fronted by the DTCM (Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing) and their 2015 strategy which is now in its 3rd year. Dubai attracts approximately 15 million tourists a year and is ever improving its infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of visitors. The emirate recently recorded a 4% increase in tourist numbers for the second quarter of 2009 despite a global dip in tourist numbers.

Contemporary Vision: Dubai boasts some of the world’s most innovative and elegant projects. The 7-star Burj Al-Arab has become recognised as the icon of Dubai, no expense was spared in creating this masterpiece. Also commanding a prominent position as the centre piece of Dubai is the newly built Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest tower which will be home to the first ever Armani hotel in Dubai and is set to attract a global audience when it opens in December this year.

Dubai is also famed for its man made islands. The first was the Palm Jumeriah which is a series of islands constructed in the shape of giant palm tree. A ground breaking development of its time, these islands saw capital appreciation of 500% from 2000-2005. The World islands are now the marvel of Dubai, an archipelago of 300 man-made islands all constructed in the shape of The World. At the centre of the project lies Aquitainia, the world’s most exclusive address. Comprising the islands of France and Spain, Aquitainia  is a private island paradise and incomparable destination.
