Infrastructure
Ras Al Khaimah Bus Network: Amongst an influx of investment into Ras Al Khaimah’s infrastructure, there are plans for a new transport system to add to the list. The RAK Transport Authority is soon to introduce a wide-ranging bus network that will connect the emirate to the rest of the UAE. 50 Buses will be allocated to work internally around RAK while a further 15 will provide straightforward, express transportation to the other emirates.
Ras Al Khaimah Roads: Ras Al Khaimah began ‘The Road Improvement Programme’ in early 2008. This project has been an amalgamation of new roads, both in rural and urban areas as well as a complete expansion of the previous road network. The programme is planned to take 4 to 5 years with a total investment of AED 3 Billion, the result of which is to complement the growth plans for the entire emirate.
RAK Rail: 2013 will see the start of the UAE Rail Network project. The line will run from the Saudi Arabia/Abu Dhabi boarder and will connect all of the emirates. RAK is expected to benefit greatly from the new high speed transport link as it becomes more accessible to commuters. The rail network will reduce the commutable distance to surrounding business areas whilst providing a more relaxed atmosphere to live.
RAK International Airport: Ras Al Khaimah enjoys a state of the art, international airport. In total 27 airlines now operate passenger and cargo, scheduled and non-scheduled services, linking the airport with destinations in the Middle East, Central Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, Far East and more recently Europe.
