Turkey close enough for weekend break
In an industry of expanding airlines and rising access to foreign countries, it is now realistic for people to head to Dalaman, Bodrum or other spots in Turkey for a weekend break.
Traffic figures were released this week by Gatwick airport covering the half-term period, showing that Dalaman was the fifth most popular destination for travellers leaving the UK on holiday.
Turkey lies south-east of the UK so locations on its west coast, like Bodrum are the closest for people flying from Britain. In as little as four or four and a half hour, it's very accessible for a long weekend.
