Turkish telecom operators to increase investments in 2009
One of Turkey’s largest mobile-phone operators, Turkcell, has announced that it will double its investment into the country in 2009, compared to last year. This was announced in an interview given by the company’s chief executive officer, Sureyya Ciliy.
In addition to this, Turk Telekom, a landline operation, also announced plans to increase investments, Turk Telecom recently released plans on potentially spending up to USD 1 billion on acquisitions in 2009. The company has already put in bids for an operator called Cosmofon, in December, competing with a rival bid from Turkcell.
