Indonesian adventurer Jeffrey “JJ” Polnaja, who is advocating for world peace by touring the world on his motorcycle, made a stop in Dubai in late January. Part of his “Ride for Peace” mission, the stop in Dubai is just one of 100 that Polnaja plans to make during the next five years.
The motorcyclist was welcomed in a ceremony at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing’s (DTCM) Heritage and Diving Village in Al Shindagha. Hakam Al Hashimi, manager of Heritage and Diving Village, presented Polnaja with a memento and celebrated Dubai’s growth and success.
The 44-year-old Polnaja began his journey on his BMW R1150GS limited edition motorcycle in late April 2006. The German-made bike is fully equipped with a global positioning system, video camera and containers for all the tools and supplies Polnaja needs for his long trek.
Polnaja’s “Ride for Peace” tour has so far included visits to 16 countries including Dubai. He plans on his next trip to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan, followed by Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
