Finnish companies discuss moving into Bulgaria

Petar Dimitrov, Bulgaria’s Economy and Energy Minister and Paavo Vayrynen, Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development discussed the idea of Nokia Mobile phones being produced in Bulgaria during the Economy and Energy Ministry meeting on September 3 2007.

The two ministers also discussed the investment interests of Finnish companies in Bulgaria; according to Dimitrov, Finnish companies are mainly interested in the fields of IT and renewable energy sources and the country is willing to share with Bulgaria its experience with EU funds utilisation.

The Finnish minister stated that Bulgaria had become very attractive for foreign investments after the country’s EU accession in January 2007 and that low production price was making the country even more attractive to investors.

Representatives of the Finnish companies Nokia, Fortum, Dynea, Eltel, Patria, NIB and OMX also accompanied Vayrynen to Bulgaria. The ministers and company heads took part in a Bulgarian-Finnish business forum to at Sofia’s Radisson SAS Grand Hotel on September 3 2007.
