Dubai International Airport has reported a 6% growth in passenger traffic in January this year.
Compared to January 2008’s figures of 3,111,188, passenger traffic at the busy airport reached 3,300,907 in January 2009. Dubai International Airport handled 37.44 million passengers last year and was the only airport among the top ten airports to announce a positive growth in the last quarter of 2008.
Dubai Airport CEO, Paul Griffiths commented on how the positive growth supported Dubai and its prime position as an international hub for both business and leisure. The airport, which is already served by over 120 international airlines is expecting another five carriers to be added in 2009 from Kuwait, Sri Lanka, India, Europe and Nigeria.
