Dubai Economic Affairs plays key role in Emirate development

Dubai Economic Affairs (DEC) recently released its annual performance report for 2008. This report, outlined by DEC’s General Secretariat, reflects the council’s various activities that include developing operational plans for policy and initiative recommendations and discussing macroeconomic issues.

DEC was launched in 2003 by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the purpose of helping Dubai fulfil its vision to make the Emirate a hub of business and finance on the map of the global economy.

The council aims to combine representatives of Dubai’s local government departments and leaders of business. Membership of the DEC highlights the private-public partnership concept that is seen to be a best practice recognised worldwide in an economic development process.
