Turkey has continued to attract greater number of British holidaymakers, evident by the increase in summer vacation bookings to the Eurasian country. The surge in the number of British holiday makers travelling to Turkey has also been influenced by fluctuations in the value of pound against the Euro. This has made Turkey a relatively more cost effective destination.
According to a travel agency in the UK, summer bookings to Turkey have increased by 29 percent, compared to last year. It is estimated that this year 20 percent of all summer vacations booked by British holiday makers so far are for Turkey.
These figures are encouraging for Turkey, even during the current global environment. Turkey also recently announced that it earned approximately $22 million from tourism income, in 2008, with 30.9 million people in total visiting the country in the period.
