Turkeyâ€™s Sabanci Holding and Austrian utility Verbundâ€™s venture, Enerjisa, will be investing a total of $8 billion in power production. The venture also plans to use these funds to purchase more power distribution grids in Turkey .
Enerjisa will purchase a state-run network for $1.225 billion in the capital city of Ankara, which will enable the company to double its clientele.
Turkeyâ€™s electricity demand in 2008 grew by 3.5 percent annually. The chairman of Enerjisa, Selahattin Hakman states that the demand for electricity is expected to grow significantly by 2010.
