Egypt: Getting There, Getting Around

The best time to visit Egypt is from October to May when temperatures are mild and range between 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day although the nights can be quite a lot cooler. The Mediterranean coast can also be chilly and the weather rainy, especially from December to February. The really hot months in Egypt are during the summer when temperatures can climb above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

British Airways and EgyptAir fly direct from London to Cairo and national airlines such as Iberia, Lufthansa and Air France fly to Egypt from their nation’s capitals. There are also charter flights from London to Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada. The airlines include: bmi, Thomson Flights, easyJet, Monarch Charter, Jet2.com and flythomascook.com charter.

Travelling within Egypt can be done in a number of different ways. Train services are plentiful and flying between destinations is relatively quick and easy. It depends on your purse and your destination in how you get there and the degree of comfort. There are two types of trains, for example. The first group is similar to Europeans trains, with air-conditioned first and second class carriages. The second, on the whole, comprises quite basic, inexpensive non air-conditioned trains.
