A ‘smart’ new system with multiple levels of protection has been adopted by Dubai Land Department for issuance of real estate ownership.
Speaking to Al Bayan newspaper, Director General of Dubai Land Department, Sultan Bin Mejrin, said the system is designed to protect the rights of property owners.
The move is one of many to improve the real estate registration and certification services and reservation of rights.
Immune to hacking and encrypted with complex symbols which block attempts to manipulate content – in particular electronic signatures – the new system will provide additional peace of mind for Dubai property investors.
Bin Mejrin said that smart electronic ownership has a longer life span than paper records, although he added that the department will keep records of both.
He added that smart real estate ownership is consistent with plans to transform Dubai into a ‘Smart City’.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the project in October last year, which involves linking government services and the public using smart devices accessed freely via high-speed wireless internet connections.
