Select Property Group (Select) has today announced that it has replaced Carillion with Sir Robert McAlpine on its two-building Affinity Living scheme on New Bailey Street in Manchester, with teams already on site.
Following months of uncertainty regarding Carillion, Select’s development team has been working behind the scenes to mitigate the risks associated with their eventual collapse. Now a contract has been signed with Sir Robert McAlpine, the immediate priority is to formalise all programme timings.
Located on New Bailey Street next to the riverside footpath that links Spinningfields to Blackfriars Street, the 35-storey building, Riverview, will house 320 apartments, while the 17-storey building, Riverside, will comprise of 185 apartments.
Sir Robert McAlpine will now pick up on the good progress previously made by Carillion.
Talking about the announcement, Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Oakes, said: “Thanks to the proactive approach of our team we have been able to expedite what can ordinarily be a lengthy process. We are delighted to have the Sir Robert McAlpine team on board to complete the scheme and we look forward to updating the industry in the coming months.”
